How We Do It

Background 01

What is Epoxy Flakes?

Epoxy flakes, also known as decorative flakes, paint chips, flecks, sprinkles, or specks, are small, colorful chips that are mixed into epoxy or resinous floor coatings to create texture, hide imperfections, and add aesthetic appeal. They can also help prevent slips and falls by adding traction to the floor.

Epoxy flake flooring is a popular choice for many businesses and homeowners because it's durable, easy to clean, and comes in many colors and styles.

OUR PROCESS

How We Do It?

From the initial stages, where we survey your site and draft a design plan, all the way to the installation and final walkthrough, you’ll receive our unmatched expertise and guidance.

We only use high-quality epoxy materials to ensure durability and exceptional performance.

Preparation

To ensure the best results, the surface underneath the epoxy flake flooring needs to be properly prepared. This involves grinding the concrete with a dustless diamond grinder and addressing any
cracks, contamination, porosity, or flatness.

Flake Broadcasting

First we toss flakes onto the concrete block perimeter walls and we cover joint side walls. Then we toss flakes onto the bottom side walls around the garage evenly. While the floor epoxy is still wet, we broadcast the needed amount of epoxy flakes onto the entire surface. This broadcast will be a 100% dispersion of flakes (full refusal) that will completely cover up the base-coat binder epoxy. The result is an even and dry coating of flake with no shiny spots/areas when properly covered. Then we add more flakes if we see shiny epoxy showing through.

Water-Based Polyurethane Top-Coat Protection

We suggest the use of a top-coat to add durability, protection, and to smooth out the flake surface so it isn’t too abrasive. Two layers are typically suggested with any interior project receiving a polyurethane coating, with the second layer applied as soon as first coat can be walked on, and is used in the same manner as the first coat.
